Why get Involved?
Every year, several million children in the U.S. find themselves living in a home overwhelmed by a crisis. Poverty, loss of job or a home can often result in children being neglected or worse. Compound those issues with many families living in isolation with no community to fall back on or stand in the gap.
This is where we come in. Safe Families provide a safe home for children and a supportive community for parents while they get back on their feet. Parents are provided with the space and support they need to address the issues impacting their ability to provide the best environment for their children. This network of relationships keep children from entering the foster care system, and ultimately, helps keeps families together. The goal is family reunification.
Safe Families for Children is an innovative collaboration between local churches, community partners, and volunteers designed to create family-like support systems for parents facing hardship or crisis.
We believe that communities should have a shared responsibility to find solutions that allow families to stay intact. Safe Families’ aim is to strengthen and preserve biological families without the bureaucracy, taxpayer spending or government dependence. Saving families means ending isolation – connecting people in community (often through churches) – and moving together in healing and restoration.
You can be a part of the solution! We need an army of community champions willing to open their hearts and homes help keep children safe and families together. There is a role for everyone and a pathway to get involved at every level.

Safe Families for Children (SFFC) is a faith-based movement passionate about family preservation to keep children safe and families together. We exist to host children and wrap family-like support around parents facing crisis. While some cannot host children at the time, many can support financially to help us reach more families at their greatest time of need. Our goal is to gather one million change agents willing to stand on the Frontline to help keep kids safe and out of the foster care system.
Share with your Church
Safe Families for Children is a movement fueled by thousands of families who practice biblical hospitality. By opening their homes they are caring for children whose parents or guardians are struggling. This work isn’t possible without the commitment of hundreds of churches all across the country. Through Safe Families for Children, your church can be putting its faith into action.
Share with your Community
Collaboration is key to Safe Families. We believe that shared responsibility in local communities can reframe how families are served and supported when facing crisis. We want to partner with community non-profits, government agencies, and First Responders who are already on the frontlines of serving families. Safe Families needs those in the community to help us connect and network with these community partners.
Serve in the Movement
Safe Families surrounds families with caring and compassionate community. Our family of volunteers wraps Circles of Support around parents while they deal with their crises. Host Families provide a loving, temporary home while Family Friends provide support and resources, and Family Coaches come alongside of parnets to help them make the necessary changes to bring stability to their family's life.
